WORLD PREMIERE

Stages is proud to premiere this fresh, quirky comedy that marks the professional debut of a promising new Houston writer and Stages Young Actors Conservatory alum. In The Book of Maggie, Judas Iscariot and Pontius Pilate, whiling away the afterlife as frenemies in the eternal Inferno, are offered a chance for redemption by a sci-fi-writing Saint Peter. The assignment? Teach a suicidal woman the value of life—before the whole world goes to Hell.

Straight White Men

by Young Jean Lee
February 10 - March 06 2016

REGIONAL PREMIERE

What do you do when the rest of the world wants you to sit down and shut up—and you think they might be right? In this subtly subversive play from one of America’s most provocative contemporary playwrights, Ed and his three adult sons come together to celebrate Christmas with cheerful trash-talking, pranks, and Chinese takeout. But soon the festivities give way to a powerful confrontation between privilege, social responsibility and America’s unrelenting demand for success.
